Digital macroscopic image processing of roadways

Andrzej Pożarycki , Paweł Rydzewski

Abstract

Automated macroscopic digital image processing techniques for roadways surfaces analyses are considered in the paper. This research is aimed at the conversion operators in domain of space, where the image is presented as a two dimensional matrix. As far, the chosen cases were presented to assess the pavement distresses as a part of visual survey method. The authors also intend to demonstrate that a verification of fatigue criteria is possible using the described herein mathematical morphology methods. Authors attention particularly concerns these criteria for which the critical state was defined as an admissible area of cracks that can be observed on the surface of road pavement.
