Abstract

In the paper the methodology of weekend road rehabilitation developed by the Road and Bridge Research Institute and Warsaw Municipal Road Administration was evaluated in the context of its effectiveness. The main research goal was to evaluate the design procedure. The design methodology of weekend road rehabilitation has been evolving based on observations made during practical applications of the methodology. Initial technology was based on a one-size-fits-all principle, which entailed certain advantages and disadvantages. The newest design approach assumes the use of calculation design methods and needs verification. In order to meet the validation needs, a diagnostic campaign was run to assess pavement condition by means of deflection basin indices. Diagnostic campaigns were run before the rehabilitation and after 3 years of service. This article presents the results of this assessment. Further diagnostic campaigns are planned in future years of service in order to verify the design procedure and propose prognostic models for the design method.
