Guidelines for the application of ground penetrating radar (GPR) to inspection of concrete bridges – reflection mode

Łukasz Topczewski

Abstract

In the paper results from experimental tests and state of the art of the GPR technique are presented. Tests were done with the use of SIR-20 GPR system with two antennas 1.6 GHz and 2.6 GHz. The results indicated possible application fields of this technique during condition assessment process of the concrete and prestressed bridges. Particular attention was focused on the preparation of guidelines on how to use this technique in practice. In the paper all stages of testing and data interpretation were thoroughly described and explained.
