Review of analytical-empirical methods for determining stiffness moduli of asphalt mixtures

Mieczysław Słowik , Mikołaj Bartkowiak

Abstract

The paper outlines and elaborates models for determining stiffness moduli of asphalt mixtures. Some original patterns taken from source articles and alternative forms of formulas after their adaptation to the SI system of units were introduced. Various laboratory methods for determining the stiffness modulus including methods for fixing that quantity of a given model were discussed. All of input data needed for determining the stiffness modulus with the use of selected models and basic information concerning preparations of samples for determining that quantity through laboratory methods were presented. Attention was turned to errors which can be made while making use of analytical-empirical models. The values of stiffness moduli determined with the use of analytical-empirical models were also compared with their equivalents of experimental tests described in the literature.
