Classification of the modernized DMS-65 folded bridge structure according to STANAG 2021 requirements

Ryszard Chmielewski , Andrzej Wolniewicz

Abstract

The paper attempts to establish procedures connected to the application of STANAG 2021 ENRG standardization agreement requirements in order to determine the load-bearing capacity of the DMS-65 folded bridge, which is part of the equipment inventory of the Polish Army. Giving the selected span constructions of a folded bridge their corresponding military classification numbers, in accordance with the STANAG 2021 requirements, provides an indication of their applicability in NATO military operations. Hypothetical vehicles of MLC class 50, 60, 70 and 80 were chosen as the load in order to classify the selected construction variants according to the specified procedure. The structure's utility features, such as platform width, were seen as a limitation in the selection of loading class in relation to the structure of a span.
