Reinforcing bars of polymer composites used in concrete engineering structures
Przemysław Mossakowski
Abstract
One of the main trends in modern bridge engineering is an introduction of new and unconventional construction materials. Engineers and scientists aim at enhancing durability of structures and at the same time they are trying to reduce the cost of the construction process and its maintenance. Reinforcing bars made of polymer composites reinforced by fibers reflect the already mentioned trend. The article presents some basic information concerning the properties of FRP reinforcing bars, their application as well as design and execution of concrete structures. A brief description of research problems connected with the application of FRP bars in constructions is included.
