Selection of the transition curve on the basis of dynamic criteria of driving

Abstract
The paper concernes the criteria of the selection of transition curves, connected with the dynamic conditions of driving. If the use of long transition curves is not possible, it is appropriate to use such transition curves, which are characterized by the optimal curvature distribution in the sense dynamic conditions of driving. A question of the optimal curvature distribution seems to be opened. It can be dependent on the needs or possible restrictions of the design process of curvilinear route sections. For selection of transition curves the minimization of sum of the values of fleeing acceleration or sum of the momentary changes of this acceleration is suggested. The appropriate equations are provided enables a possibility for analytic or numeric computations. The suggested criteria were examined in respect to selected transition curves.
