Dynamics of two-axle freight wagon with the UIC single-link suspension and forces exerted on the straight track

Jan Matej

Abstract

This paper is concerned with lateral dynamics of the two-axle freight wagon with the UIC single-link suspension, where dry friction is the only one way of damping oscillations. The mathematical model of the standard UIC single-link suspension has been prepared elsewhere according to non-smooth mechanics assumptions and then implemented into known MBS program. Numerical simulations of motion of the two-axle freight wagon with 200 kN axle load were performed on the straight track according to methods appropriate for dynamic stability, lateral forces exerted on the track, guiding forces, coefficient of derailment and coefficient of wheel-rail wear. The influence of coefficient of friction in suspension joints as well, as velocity of freight wagon were taken into account.
