Properties of concrete impregnated using epoxy composition

Marzena Kurpińska

Abstract

Surface waterproofing of concrete elements of roads and bridges allows a reduction of penetration of gasses and liquids and hence prevention of concrete deterioration. The main subject of this study is the influence of properties of waterproofing materials on strength and durability of concrete. To design waterproofing materials four different epoxy resins were used. Selection of waterproofing materials out of 160 different compositions was based on the following criteria: viscosity, density, depth of penetration and time of gelation. Experimental tests on concrete specimens were performed to evaluate the effectiveness of designed waterproofing materials for strength and durability improvement.
